Besides well-known as Paradise island, Bali also produce tropical fruits. The most favorite tropical fruit in Bali is Coconut. Many traveler enjoy drink Coconut water while visit the sightseeing in Bali.
So if you’re tropical fruit lover and wondering where to buy Coconut with the local price, here’s our take on the cheap Coconut shop (Warung) that Ubud has to offer.
1. UBUD MARKET IN THE EARLY MORNING
Ubud market popular as art & souvenir market. But, in the early morning until 8 AM they selling vegetables and fruits. It start operates in the early morning around 4 AM, then finish or already leaving Ubud market around 8.00 AM. It’s a wise if you go in early morning rather than late morning.

You can find the cheap Coconut in the middle of market. For the exact location, it’s in front of Ubud market building. You can see so many pick up car selling vegetables and fruits. Among of them selling Coconut. This is one of the cheapest Coconut in Ubud.

2. LOCAL SHOP (WARUNG) AT SRI WEDARI STREET
Somehow in the touristic place like Ubud, there is a local shop (Warung) in Sri Wedari street who sell Coconut with the local price. You can’t find it on Google Map because no body put it. You need to find Lacasita Mexican restaurant. It located in front of it.

3. LOCAL SHOP (TOKO) AT TIRTA TAWAR STREET
I found this place when i visited and enjoy the tasty food at Avocado Warung Ubud. In front of it i saw a local shop (Warung) who sell some products and Coconut. Then i asked and tried it. I found the price quiet different than Coconut in Avocado Warung.

*) This Warung will ask additional price IDR 2K to open the Coconut shell, thus you can eat the coconut meat.
4. LOCAL SHOP (TOKO) AT SINGAKERTA RAYA STREET
This local shop located in the west of Ubud Yoga Centre. If you have plan to do Yoga here, i think you should try to buy a Coconut in their neighbor shop. Coconut water is one of the best option after yo do Yoga. So, don’t miss this shop (Warung).

5. LOCAL SHOP (WARUNG) AT NYUH KUNING STREET
This local shop (warung) called Srana Artha located in Nyuh Kuning street. This Warung also sell other tropical fruits such rambutan, durian, papaya, avocado, etc.

Sorry, i have to remove the number 6 from the list since the seller applied double standard price. They offer the different price between the foreigner and local. I will update the new one after i found it. Maybe do you have any suggestion or better idea?
1. Bring your own straw if you don’t like plastic straw.
2. Bring your own spoon to eat the Coconut meat.
*) The seller don’t have Bamboo straw or stainless straw. They just have a plastic straw. Better you bring your own straw to enjoy the Coconut water.
**) If you didn’t bring your own spoon, the seller will cut the Coconut skin to be your spoon.
There are so many factors why the tropical fruits become expensive or cheaper in Bali. Some of them are: Touristic area, Distance from the source (plantation), Harvest time (fruit season), Hindus Special Day (Kuningan, Galungan, Pagerwesi and Nyepi Day), Anomalic weather, Pest attack, Quality (size and taste), etc. Thus, the price may getting higher or lower depend on those factor above.
