Thanks for details how extend visa. Very useful site. It helps me a lot. It is not easy to get so full and true information in one place.

  2. Pauline

Thank you kunzbali for your help and for these useful details.
I’m afraid to be a bit short on time because my first visa was given the 28th of September and I won’t be able to start the procedure before the 21st of October… In this case, do you think it would be safer to do it through an agent or to do it by myself?
    Thanks again,
    Pauline

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hello Pauline,

If i refer to the Bali Immigration office about Visa (VOA type) extension procedure,
we need to submit the application 7 (seven) days before it’s expiry date.
In your case if you submit the application on October 21st,
it means you submit application precise seven days before it’s expiry date (October 28th).
I think it should be ok refer to Bali Immigration office procedure.
Also i don’t see any Indonesian holiday between 21st until 28th October 2019.
So, i think it should be fine.

But, somehow in the reality the whole process takes 8 days -14 days.
From submitting your application until you take back your Passport with a new stamp.
In this case i don’t know whether it can be a problem or not.
I have no experience in your case.
Usually i accompany my friend to submit application is more than 7 (seven) days until 12 (twelve) days before it’s expiry date.

      If i’m in your situation,
i will take a chance to visit Bali Immigration office on October 21st.
I will submit the application on that day.
If they accept it, then it’s no problem.
But, if they reject the application,
then i will go to Visa agent.
Let the Visa agent take care the rest.

        Hello kunzbali,

Thank you for your kind answer and for all the useful details.

We did get the visa extension in time.
If it can be helpful to anyone, here are the delays we had in Denpasar office:
        – 1st visit on the 21st of October (Monday)
        – 2nd visit on the 23rd of October (Wednesday)
        – 3rd visit on the 28th of October (Monday)

It was really easy, especially thanks to this blog post. And the officers were kind and nice.
We would recommend to anyone to it by himself/herself 🙂

    Great blog.
Do you know if the sponsor letter is mandatory?
In many places says that not need. Also in Indonesia embassy in my country they said is not needed.
    Thank you very much.

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Thank you.
For apply Social culture Visa i think a sponsor is mandatory.
Last time i send a letter to my friend in Singapore.
She applied Social culture visa in Indonesia embassy in Singapore.

Hmm… a little bit weird if they say no need a sponsor.
Maybe in other country they have different policy.

    thanks

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hi,

But, they have a lot of visa agent there.
Ubud area covered by Denpasar Immigration office in Renon, Denpasar.

No. You can’t go to the office on December 6th.
You need to go around 7-14 days before expire date.

  5. Rose

A friend recommend this blog to find answer of my question.
My passport has been held up in immigration office for two weeks. I’ve done my fingerprints already. The agency i did it with says there is a problem with computer and thousands of people are waiting.
    Do you got any insight?

    1. kunzbali Post author

Hmm, you should ask to your visa agent actually.
Well, i have once experience actually.
We got delayed photo and fingerprints session.
Then they asked us to wait while the computer system being reset.
Maybe this kind of issue make your visa extension process become so long.

    Hey Kunzbali,

A question, i entered Indonesia without a visa on arrival as i wanted to fly KL in between…but now i wonder if there’s a chance to extend my stay without flying out. Any experiences?!
    Thanks.

      Hey Pietzko,

Since you already choose free Visa, it’s no chance for you to extend your stay.
After 30 days stay, you need to fly out.
Next time please choose and pay VOA (Visa On Arrival) if you want to stay longer.

      Hello,
All Bali Immigration office will close on Galungan Day.
This is happens in Bali island only.
It’s not happens in Lombok or Java since it’s not a national holiday.
Also it will close on Kuningan Day and Nyepi Day (Day of Silence).

Can I avoid fingerprint scanning and taking photo session?
A bit risk if visit a place with a lot of people in this period.

      Sorry, you can’t.
Even you hire Visa agent service, you still need to come to the Immigration office.
Fingerprint scanning and taking photo is a mandatory of visa extension process.
