HOW MANY WAYS TO ACCESS IJEN CRATER?

There are two ways accessing Ijen crater:
1. West side (Bondowoso regency).
2. Southeast side (Banyuwangi regency)

  • Mostly tourist/traveler access to Ijen from Banyuwangi regency because the road is relative close/near from Bali.

HOW TO REACH IJEN CRATER FROM SOUTH BALI USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

Here backpacker way to reach Ijen crater from South Bali:

  1. Take a Mini/Micro Bus/Isuzu/Mitsubishi at Ubung Bus Station and stop at Gilimanuk Ferry Port. The distance about 122 km or 3-4 hours trip.
  2. Take a Ferry at Gilimanuk Bali Seaport and stop at Ketapang Banyuwangi Seaport. The distance about 5.3 km or 30 minutes – 45 minutes.
  3. Take a scooter taxi at Ketapang and stop at Karangasem Train Station. The distance about 14 km or 30 minutes driving.
  4. Find a backpacker basecamp called ‘Rumah Singgah Banyuwangi’. It’s near to Karangasem train station and it’s a free place to stay. Nice, clean and friendly people. You will meet other traveler here. You can plan your trip to Ijen in here or share the cost of scooter rental
    with other traveler.
  5. In the midnight you can start trip to Ijen crater by scooter. Catching Ijen Blue Fire possible to see in the night time only.

HOW TO REACH IJEN CRATER FROM NORTH BALI USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

Here backpacker way to reach Ijen crater from North Bali:

    1. Take a Mini/Micro Bus/Isuzu/Mitsubishi at Banyuasri Bus Station and stop at Gilimanuk Ferry Port. The distance about 122 km or 3-4 hours trip.

HOW MUCH THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT COST?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT FEE (COST):

  1. Minibus from Ubung to Gilimanuk = IDR 40K-50K.
  2. Ferry from Gilimanuk to Ketapang, Banyuwangi = IDR 8K.
  3. Scooter taxi from Ketapang to Karangasem train station = IDR 20K-25K.
  4. Free stay.
  5. Scooter rental = IDR 75K
