**) In this spot also you will meet the third donation. Sometime they will force you to give donation. Well, it’s a little bit crazy, since when the donation become a must? They claimed it for the owner who maintenance the rice terraces.
***) The Bali Tourism Board or local authority should fix this issue. It’s so many donation spots in this area. I count at least three donation spots. Donation near the front gate, donation near the bridge and third donations located across the hill. They should manage and combine it to become one. Maybe once payment as included on the entrance fee on the front side could be as a nice solution. So, it won’t bothering and convenient for the visitor.

RICE PADDY CYCLES:

*) After harvest season, the farmer start treat the land before seedling. This period usually without rice plant for 1-2 weeks. Don’t be surprise if your visit didn’t see any rice plant.
RICE PADDY SEEDLING
*) You can see how young and green they are. You can see also the unhulled rice around the seedling.

*) Vegetative phase is the longest phase of the rice plant. After the seedling till before the generative phase.
GENERATIVE PHASE: Reproduction (30 DAYS)
*) In this phase you can see the rice plant start produce the rice grain.
GENERATIVE PHASE: RIPE GRAIN PHASE (35 DAYS)
*) Balinese harvest rice paddy three times in a year.
**) The whole process will take about 120 days from seedling to harvesting. It’s long process actually. Sometime it’s like a gambling, the farmer against the weather, pest, bugs, even the fluctuating price of the rice it self.
***) It has a long process from the rice field until it serve on your plate. My grand father said as ‘Thousand hands’. From beginning process until it served in front of you, it passed a lot of people who work so hard to make it happen. It started by farmer (labour) who treat the land before seedling, seedling process and immerse seedling on treated field, fertilizing the field, opening water canal, spraying, harvesting the rice, hulling rice and distributing to market/customer.
****) So, when you have a meals better take a rice wisely and finish it cleanly. Don’t waste this blessed food.
