WHAT IS KARMA BEACH?

DESCRIPTION:

Karma beach is a small beach in the south of Bali. It located in the back of the hill and forest. The way to the beach by trek down hundreds of stairs. This beach named it by Karma group who established resort, villa, bar & restaurant and popularized it.

WHEN THE BEST TIME TO VISIT KARMA BEACH?

BEST TIME TO VISIT:

DRY SEASON:
April  – October.

*) July to September are the most ideal months to visit this beach since it has little rain and sometime no rain et all.

**) If you visit on west wind season (November – February), you will see the beach without dirty, all of garbage such as plastic, branch, coconut skin, etc were removed by the resort, villa and beach bar staff. This is one benefit if you visit Karma beach, it’s always cleaned up. Unlike other beach.

LIVE MUSIC:
Every weekend.

*) You can see the live music at Sundays beach club every weekend. You can check the schedule on their official website.

THE WAY TO KARMA BEACH

*) If you don’t want to pay you can just step down the stairs. Otherwise, you can use a lift/gondola (rail car) and pay 250K.

ENTRANCE FEE:
Free.

GONDOLA/ELEVATOR/LIFT FEE:
IDR 250K.

*) 125K can be redeemed for F&B.

PARKING FEE:
IDR 10K (Car).
IDR 5K (Bike/Scooter).

Jalan Villa Kandara, Ungasan, Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80362

DISTANCE:
About 27 km south of Denpasar or 1 hour.
About 49 km south of Ubud or 2 hours.
About 22 km south of Kuta beach or 1 hours.
About 21 km south of Ngurah Rai airport or 45 minutes.

HOW TO GET TO KARMA BEACH?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is no direct public transport to get there.

*) For backpacker i recommend you to rent a scooter to reach this beach and use google map as your navigation.

**) You can put your scooter/car in front of Pura Masuka temple.

*) You can also access Karma beach via Melasti beach actually. But, when high tide you really can not access it because the beach covered by sea water and strong wave.

There are weak signal for your smartphone.

*) Use Telkomsel SIM card for relative better service compare to other telecom services.

There is a bar & restaurant at Sundays beach club.

*) I visited Karma beach on west wind season which means a lot of rubbish in almost all coast in Bali. But, i found there was no rubbish at all. Seems the beach club staff already cleaned up the rubbish. So, it was nice visits in semi private beach.

PROS AND CONS:

PROS:
1. Hidden & clean beach.
2. White sand beach.
3. Long coast line.
4. Awesome limestone hill.
5. Awesome Gondola experience.

CONS:
1. Crowded beach on weekend/student holiday/Indonesian holiday.
2. Can not swimming when low tide.
3. Rude & arrogant security/parking man.
4. Dirty beach on Monsoon (west wind) season.
5. Many stairs.

UPDATE STATUS OF KARMA BEACH:

OPEN FOR ANY VISITOR/TOURIST

*) Since March 21st, 2020 Karma beach has been closed according to government instruction to avoid Corona spreads.

**) Since July 9th, 2020 (Bali New Normal) period, Karma beach has been officially open for tourist.

You can combine to visit these places when you visiting Karma beach:

1. Melasti beach (1 km or 5 minutes).
2. Green Bowl beach (5 km or 11 minutes).
3. Pandawa beach (8 km or 17 minutes).
4. Nusa Dua beach (13 km or 27 minutes).
5. Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) culture park (7 km or 14 minutes).
6. Dreamland beach (12 km or 30 minutes).
7. Tanjung Benoa beach (14 km or 40 minutes).
8. Uluwatu temple + monkey forest + sunset + bali dance show.

    Very beautiful beach.
    Fine golden sand and crashing turquoise waves, stunning coral cliffs with lush vegetation. Clean and well maintained.
    When we visited it was almost high tide and the waves came up so far that finally there wasn’t very much space left on the beach!
