WHAT IS GILIMANUK PORT?

DESCRIPTION:

Gilimanuk Ferry port is a port positioned in the west of Bali, Indonesia, exactly in the area of Melaya, Jembrana, about 3 hours from Denpasar. For one reason people come to Gilimanuk: to the port for ferries to and from Banyuwangi (Ketapang) in Java. Ferries run every 20 minutes, 24 hours a day and take about half an hour to make the crossing, although loading and unloading can take much longer.

Since the Bali bomb, security is much tighter at Gilimanuk than it used to be and you should be prepared for some long queues. People from Java should be ID checked by security and asked what purpose comes to Bali.

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hi Jane,

There is no Mini bus from Gilimanuk to Ubud.
But, you can take a Minibus at Gilimanuk seaport/harbour and stop at Mengwi bus station.
After that you can take a Grab or Go-jek from outside bus station to Ubud.

  2. Alan

    Hi
It’s Alan, is there any bus from Gilimanuk to DPS airport during noon ?
or only take private taxi ?
if yes, but how much and how long ?
    thank you!

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hi Alan,

There is no bus or minibus from Gilimanuk direct to Denpasar airport.
Private taxi will be very expensive due to the long distance.
Better you take a Minibus from Gilimanuk harbor to Ubung bus station.
Then take an online scooter/car taxi such as Grab or Go-jek to Denpasar airport.

Minibus fee (Gilimanuk – Ubung bus station) = IDR 40K-50K.
Go-jek scooter taxi (Ubung bus station – Denpasar airport) = IDR 35K-40K.

Gilimanuk to Ubung bus station around 3.5-4.5 hours trip.
Ubung bus station to Denpasar airport around 30-45 minutes.
It depend on the traffic, vehicle condition, the driver, hindus special day, etc.
By the way, when you order Go-jek you have to walk out from Ubung bus station.
Online scooter/car taxi forbidden to enter the bus station.
      Have a nice trip!

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hello Victoria,

I assumed you are going to Ubung from Gilimanuk harbour, right?
If you want to catch the bus to Ubung,
better you do in day time.
      Even morning is better.
The Micro/Mini bus operates in day time only.
They not operates in the evening or night time.

    1. kunzbali Post author

No, mostly all the microbus/minibus without aircon.

You need to stop around Mengwi area.
Then order online taxi to Ubud or Tegalalang.

  4. Lara Little

We decide move to Bali for this isolation period.
Do you think we can pass the Gilimanuk harbour?
Do you think is there a restriction since we are traveler who trapped in Indonesia?
    Thank you!

    1. kunzbali Post author

Yes, there is a restriction for tourist/traveler who want to enter Bali island.
I suggest you to bring the result of rapid test or swab test.
Also the letter from a Doctor that declare you are healthy person.
The operator will check your letter and some scanning (temperature measurement).
Then they will ask you to do self isolation for two weeks after scanning process finish.
