WHAT IS BUYUK PORT/HARBOUR?

DESCRIPTION:

Buyuk harbour is a port positioned in Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia, exact location in the area of Buyuk sub-village, Kutampi Kaler village, Nusa Penida district, Klungkung regency, Bali, Indonesia.

*) There is a misconception among the international traveler. They called Buyuk port is a Ferry port. Buyuk port is a Fast/Speed boat port actually.

**) Ferry port located 1 km east of Buyuk Fast/Speed boat port.

WHERE IS BUYUK SEA PORT LOCATED?

LOCATION:
Village (Desa): Buyuk, Kutampi Kaler
Sub-district (Kecamatan): Nusa Penida
City (Kotamadya): Klungkung
Province (Provinsi): Bali

DISTANCE:
About 1 km west of Nusa Penida ferry port or 4 minutes.
About 1.9 km west of Sampalan harbour or 6 minutes.
About 7.7 km east of Toyapakeh harbour  or 17 minutes.

*) There are some spots for Fast/Speed boat port that spread along the beaches in Nusa Penida such as Buyuk, Toyapakeh, Sampalan. But, the location are quiet far.

HOW TO GET TO BUYUK PORT/HARBOUR?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is no public transport to get there.

*) For backpacker i recommend you to rent a scooter to reach this place or explore Nusa Penida and use google maps as your navigator. Otherwise, for comfort and safety reason you can take a tour by a car since the road so small and broken (bumpy).

**) Scooter rental fee in Nusa Penida island around IDR 50K-75K per day. The price vary depend on the scooter type and the condition. If you rent for 3 days you may get cheap price.

***) The gas station in the northern of Nusa Penida only, there is no gas station in the southern. Also it will closed on 7 PM, except only Toyapakeh gas station who will closed on 9 PM.

CAFE/RESTAURANT:
There are some cafe along the beach.

*) I suggest you to find the food on the Sampalan/Mentigi market. It will be cheaper for sure. You can take a scooter to the market.

RESTROOM/TOILET:
Some restroom and toilet.

*) Better you bring your pocket tissue. Also you need to pay IDR 5K.

MONEY CHANGER:
Some Money changer and ATM on the main road Ped – Buyuk street.

*) I think is a new restroom. It’s quiet clean and nice.

BUYUK HARBOUR NUSA PENIDA

GOOD TIPS WHEN YOU IN FAST BOAT TRIP:

1. Windproof jacket.

Bringing wind visor jacket might be a wise choice. It will be a windy trip because the boat quiet fast. Other option you can use a scarf.

2. Sun glasses.

Sometime it will be sunny day on the boat. Also water splash sometime come to passenger position. It depend on the wind direction. In this case i recommend you to bring your glasses. A Sunglasses even better.

3. Seat Position.

If you can not tolerate to be shaken, better you choose seat position in the back side. Front side more stronger than back side. This straits facing Indonesia ocean. So, the waves sometime higher and strong. Mid day and late afternoon trip usually more shaken up.

UPDATE STATUS OF BUYUK HARBOUR:

*) Update info: since 24 April 2020 all Nusa Penida sea port is not available for passenger transfer to Bali and vice versa. It’s available for cargo vehicle only. Also for Balinese who has Nusa Penida ID card only. This policy according to Indonesia Transportation Ministry Rules: Permenhub No 25 Tahun 2020.

**) Update information: since 9 July 2020 (New Normal), all sea port is available for passenger transfer. But, you need to show Non-reactive Rapid Test certificate.
